Manaka is a name of extraordinary richness, because the same sound carries entirely different souls depending on how it is written. As 真中, it means "true center" — ma (真) for truth and authenticity, naka (中) for the middle, the core, the heart of things. As 愛花, it transforms into "beloved flower" — love made botanical, affection given bloom.

But there is something more: manaka also exists as a common word in Japanese, meaning simply the very middle — the exact center of a space, a moment, a life. It is the point equidistant from all edges, where everything converges.

To be named Manaka is to be named after a place — not a location on a map, but an interior one. The still point. The place where nothing pulls harder than anything else.

With this totem, Amélie Dauteur reaches for equilibrium. MANAKA stands not as the tallest or the loudest, but as the most essential — the figure around which everything else organizes itself, the quiet gravity at the center of the room.

A flower rooted at the core of truth.

Amélie Dauteur

"Okashi, Hosu, Niji, Taboo, Torio — each a charming name forming a forest of totems created by Amélie Dauteur.Amélie Dauteur’s totems are poetic exclamation marks that punctuate the art scene with their grace, finesse, and joyful beauty. It comes as no surprise — their creator, who comes from the world of decoration, fashion, and luxury, brings exceptional care to their making. Her gesture is assured, her technique refined, and in her choice of materials — hand-painted ceramics or wood shaped by time — nothing is left to chance. These elements, drawn from nature, reinforce the primal and sensual character of the totems."
