Alice Gauthier

Alice Gauthier graduated in 2014 from the Royal College of Art in London (Fine Art), having previously earned her DNAP (Diplôme National d’Art Plastique) at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg in 2012, awarded with the congratulations of the jury. Exploring drawing in all its forms, Gauthier pursued research into lithography and the artist’s book at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2015. In recent years, her work has been shown in exhibitions in Paris, London, Liverpool and Vienna. In 2015 she was selected for the Salon Jeune Création and for Bloomberg New Contemporaries at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. That same year she received the City of Paris Prix du Perfectionnement aux Métiers d’Art, which enabled her to train for a year and a half with the lithographer Michael Woolworth. Following this experience, she installed a lithographic press in her studio and now approaches lithography as a medium in its own right, on a par with painting and drawing. In 2017, Gauthier met Gilles Fuchs, president of the ADIAF, who chose to support her and enabled her to exhibit her drawings at Galerie Premier Regard in Paris. In 2019 and 2020, her drawings were presented at the DDessin fair in Paris. In 2021 and 2022, two solo exhibitions were devoted to her at Galerie Sabine Bayasli and at Atelier Bergère, both in Paris. During these two years she also took part in several group exhibitions at Galerie Tajan (Paris), Espace à Vendre (Nice), Galerie Ariane CY (Paris) and the Museum of Seoul National University (South Korea). In autumn 2022, she was selected by Cultur Foundry to take part in the group exhibition Le Rêve du Scaphandre, curated by Elora Weill-Engerer, which was included in the VIP programme of the inaugural edition of Paris+ par Art Basel. In early 2023, 21Contemporary (Nice) devoted a solo exhibition to her, titled Ce que veulent les vagues, and she was included in the group exhibition Passion Simple at Strouk Galerie (Paris). In April 2023, the solo exhibition L’épaisseur de l’ombre was presented at the Maison des Arts de Châtillon, curated by Jean-Marc Dimanche. In summer 2023, Galerie Dilecta presented her drawings at the Paréidolie fair (Marseille), and again at Drawing Now Art Fair (Paris) in March 2024. Most recently, the solo exhibition Poussières vivantes was dedicated to her at Conscious (Paris), from 12 March to 27 April 2024. A solo exhibition was devoted to her at Galerie Dilecta in Paris in spring 2025. Gauthier also took part in a group exhibition on the theme of intuition at the Fondation EDF in March 2025, curated by Samantha Barroero, with scientific curatorship by the sociologist Gérald Bronner. In 2026, she is showing eighteen watercolours on stone in a group exhibition at the Abbaye de l’Escaladieu, near Tarbes, alongside fourteen other artists. Alongside her visual practice, the artist is also a musician. She played clarinet and bass clarinet for almost seven years with the band Rob Miles & les Clés Anglaises.
