Alice GAUTHIER
Born in Paris in 1989, Alice Gauthier lives and works there. She graduated in 2014 from the Royal College of Art in London, Fine Arts department, after receiving the jury’s commendations for her DNAP from the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg in 2012.
Alice Gauthier develops her practice through three mediums: drawing, printmaking, and painting. She seeks to make the viewer feel the primordial and indissoluble bond that connects them to the Universe. She is irresistibly drawn to the places where everything began (water, earth, air). She creates poetic and dreamlike landscapes and universes through the fusion of different liquids (gouache, ink, watercolor, etc.), which merge and crystallize on the paper, producing fascinating material effects.
In 2017, Alice Gauthier’s work was supported by Gilles Fuchs at Galerie Premier Regard in Paris. In 2021 and 2022, two solo exhibitions were devoted to her at Galerie Sabine Bayasli (Paris) and Atelier Bergère (Paris). She also took part in several group exhibitions at Galerie Tajan (Paris), at Espace à Vendre (Nice), at Galerie Ariane CY (Paris), and at the National Museum of Seoul National University (South Korea).
In 2022, she was selected by Cultur Foundry to participate in the group exhibition Le Rêve du Scaphandre, curated by Elora Weill-Engerer, an exhibition included in the VIP program of the first edition of Paris+ par Art Basel.
In 2023, a solo exhibition, L’épaisseur de l’ombre, was dedicated to her at the Maison des Arts de Châtillon, curated by Jean-Marc Dimanche.
In 2024, a solo exhibition titled Poussières vivantes was presented at Conscious (Paris).
Recently, Alice Gauthier’s work entered the collections of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and is also part of the collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (Paris).
Most recently, her work was exhibited at the Issy Biennial in November 2025.
A solo exhibition, Nous-Terre, was dedicated to her at the Centre d’art Les Églises (Chelles) in October and November 2025.
As part of the 2025 edition of Drawing Now, Alice Gauthier’s work was selected among the favorites of architect and designer Pierre Yovanovitch.
