FRINGE WARSAW 2025 – The girl bit her tongue, was left without a tongue – Noemi Conan x Joanna Ambroz

24.09.2025-28.09.2025

The exhibition "The girl bit her tongue, was left without a tongue" brings together Joanna Ambroz and Noemi Conan — two painters who, through self-portraits, confront external gazes, expectations, and shame. For Ambroz, the point of departure is emotional labor — an invisible yet exhausting effort to regulate one’s feelings in line with social demands. Conan, starting from a dream of sisterhood, creates paintings that pulse with unspoken anger and intimacy. Both artists explore the theme of the self — no longer as a source of the problem, but as a force of expression, resistance, and strength
